Miles Phillips is recognized nationally for his work, serving as a member of the National Extension Tourism Design Team, and currently the Chair of the National Extension Tourism Network, and the 2019 Sustainable Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Conference.

Mr. Phillips developed and managed tourism & outdoor recreation training and development programs for South Carolina Sea Grant and then for Texas AgriLife Extension as Associate Department Head, for the Texas A&M Department of Recreation Parks and Tourism Extension. Prior to tourism work, he was an environmental consulting engineer. His work currently focuses on support of the Oregon Coast and he also works on statewide efforts, national collaborative and international projects. He leads tourism education tours including international programs in Costa Rica. His services have helped businesses expand revenue and create jobs in both rural and urban areas while also supporting wildlife and long term conservation.

Mr. Phillips has produced over 50 publications, given hundreds of presentations, developed and teaches multiple online courses for professionals. He is currently managing a Professional Guide Training program that also has a youth component (GORP), a Hospitality Workforce Program (HWT) and a Community Ambassador Training (CAT) program.

He works with communities, regional networks, agencies and individual businesses to provide research based information and training to support better informed decision making.
