Meagan Thomas
Meagan Thomas is a Watchable Wildlife Biologist for the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) where she works to develop and implement a wide variety of wildlife viewing opportunities across the state. Some of her favorite elements of her job include coordination of DWR’s wildlife camera program, creation of citizen science projects, and directing the Adopt-a-Trail program. Meagan grew up in Maryland and obtained two B.S. degrees from Towson University, one in Organismal Biology & Ecology, and the other in Animal Behavior. After graduation, Meagan attended Eastern Illinois University (EIU) where she earned her M.S. in Biology, completed a thesis centered on snake dietary ecology, and met her future husband/Fisheries Biologist, Clint. Prior to her employment with DWR, Meagan also worked for Davidson College as their Herpetology Research Manager and for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission as a Human-Wildlife Interactions Biologist. Although she enjoys getting to work with a wide array of species, she is particularly passionate about those centered on herpetofauna and non-game aquatics.
