Dan Gruber

McDowell Sonoran Conservancy
Dan Gruber was a principal and senior partner at Deloitte Consulting. His work included organization performance improvement and turnaround as well as strategic, business, and financial planning. Mr. Gruber worked in a number of industries – retail, manufacturing, health care, cultural institutions and organizations, and financial services, among others – leading change management, merger integration, organizational design and restructuring, and turnaround projects. Mr. Gruber was a founder of Deloitte’s change management practice and led the corporate reorganization practice.

He received a B.S. in philosophy and physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master’s in applied mathematics at the Stevens Institute of Technology.

Since retiring, he has served as a volunteer with conservation-related organizations, including the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy and the Central Arizona Conservation Alliance. He was a founder of the Conservancy’s research center, called the Field Institute, and its citizen science program. He helped create, structure, and implement the Conservancy’s current volunteer organization, and he was a founding member of the CAZCA steering committee. He has authored a number of research papers focused on local geology and ecological resource management, contributed to several books, and teaches courses about the natural history of central Arizona throughout the Phoenix area. Dan has provided almost 16,000 hours of volunteer service.
